Reply:Since most of the uninvited surely will find out, I would re-think the structure of the whole party. Could you change its nature and invite all 10. Telling all and and seeing who could in fact come before having a lottery drawing would at least tell all your friends that you wanted them there. Describe the circumstances that limits the group to five and let chance determine the winners.
Reply:I would say you need to invite all 10. Make necessary changes like serving something less expensive if you have to but no party is worth making 5 of your friends think you don't value their friendship.
